From the back of Bourke to Zanzibar, following the Silk Road from east to west then crossing the ocean to the tropical exotica of the Caribbean, the intoxicating aromas and tastes of Spice dishes both subtle and fiery are featured on our menu !!
Sacred, because we believe food has an energy and its is important to honour that energy - from the planting of the seed, loving and nurturing of the plants as they grow to the harvesting and cooking the produce with an attitude of gratitude and appreciation of the innate beauty of the earth and all the wondrous mysteries she provides for our pleasure.
Agnihotra the ancient Vedic bio-energetic harmonisation practice is regularly and irregularly performed at Sacred Spice.
This is a family enterprise, Ani in charge of the set up, Emi is the right hand, Bo and Jesse on dishes, coffee, maintenance, prep etc. so all help with harmonisation is often needed.
To pick vegetables and herbs from our kitchen garden then to be able to serve them with style is a creative pleasure I enjoy!!!!!
Of course at Sacred Spice we don’t have it all in our back yard so we have searched out the people who enjoy what they do and care for the earth that they grow in, this includes produce from as close as ½ a km in Stratford, happy vegetables from the Tablelands along with grassfed, hormone free meat, organic chicken and duck, free swimming seafood, organic and biodynamic milk and grains.
Recycling everything possible is part of the credo of this establishment so if you have a penchant for lamb shanks don't forget to reserve the bone for your or your neighbour’s canine!
Keeping a small footprint is important and something we are keenly aware of, with the bulk of our food supply being sourced as locally as possible; (Calling all gardeners with excess !!!) but hey, it’s part of our history to obtain precious parcels from far away places
SPICES…from ajowan to zedoary, its our need for the exotic !!!
